* Deleted Files are files that have been deleted through normal methods, such as accidental deletions. Those files that can be recovered by searching for Microsoft Windows file reference information which remain on your computer's hard drive.

* Lost Files are files that no longer have Microsoft Windows file reference information remaining. The full scan method (cluster scan) is appropriate for searching lost files, this method will search the entire hard drive and identifies these files by their structure (i.e. unique header, content, and footer information). Because the Microsoft Windows file reference information is no longer present the original name of the file is no longer available.
